Hurricane Katrina memorial 8 years later. <br />
Robert Green, activist and survivor of Hurricane Katrina holds a wreath and wears a t-shirt in memory of his mother and grand daughter who perished in the storm. Every year on the anniversary, Mr Green posts a wreath to the tree near where his loved ones succumbed to the storm.<br />

The memorial wreath floats from the industrial canal bridge, close to the levee breach which destroyed the Lower 9th ward. The wreath was dropped from the bridge into the water.<br />

The memorial wreath in mid air as it falls to the industrial canal beneath the bridge, close to the levee breach which destroyed the Lower 9th ward. The wreath was dropped from the bridge into the water.<br />

Local council woman Cynthia Willard Lewis leads a prayer with ministers at the top of the Claiborne Bridge where wreaths and flowers were thrown into the canal in memory of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Residents had gathered at the hurricane Katrina memorial in the Lower 9th Ward to remember those who perished when the industrial canal levee breached less than a mile from where they stand. Many residents are struggling to return to the still derelict and decimated Lower 9th Ward.<br />

The Mayor of La Bissell, Christian Bernard lays a wreath at the memorial service. Gathered in the pouring rain, those who perished in the Great War are remembered by British and French civilians on the 100th anniversary of the Great War. <br />
<br />
Lochnagar Crater was created by the Tunnelling Companies of the Royal Engineers under a German field fortification. The explosion was the loudest man made noise created at that time, purportedly heard in London. <br />
