Hundreds of NOPD officers traditionally pass along Bourbon Street backed up by mounted units. The crowds of revelers mostly cheered the officers from NOPD, shaking their hands where possible as they officially announced the end of Mardi Gras and the commencement of Ash Wednesday and Lent.
