Lundi Gras. Mayor Ray Nagin is in high spirits to welcome the King of Rex, masked and unidentified as he comes ashore to give his Official Proclamation of Carnival, marking the commencement of the revelry that is Mardi Gras. Rex is the oldest traditional parade and King of Mardi Gras, founded in 1872.
