The Danziger Bridge, scene of a notorious shooting of unarmed civilians by NOPD officers in the days after the hurricane swept ashore. Police killed James Brissette (17yrs) and mentally handicapped Ronald Madison (40yrs). Four other civilians were injured. Five police officers were found guilty in Federal court of a myriad of charges related to the cover up and deprivation of civil rights. A campaign has been started to rename the bridge in honor of the victims.
