29 August 2009. Lower 9th Ward, New Orleans, Louisiana.
4th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina remembered.
All that remains...... The interior of a gutter former home lies abandoned. Four years since the all devastating wrath of Hurricane Katrina destroyed the neighbourhood, many houses remain gutted and rotting into the landscape as voracious local vegetation takes over. In many places only slabs remain where houses once stood. So much remains to be done to restore community to many parts of the Lower 9th Ward north of Claiborne Avenue. Federal and state government have yet to lift a finger to restore housing.
