30 May, 2006. Lakeview, New Orleans, Louisiana. Mosquito breeding grounds. Once crystal clear swimming pools in the back gardens of houses next to the levee wall now form dark stagnant pools in the once affluent, predominantly white Lakeview neighbourhood close to the 17th Street Canal levee breach. Nine months after hurricane Katrina these untreated pools create fetid breeding grounds for mosquitos. Lakeview was devastated by flooding after Hurricane Katrina.
