March 6th,2006. New Orleans, Louisiana. Six months after hurricane Katrina devasted the Lower 9th Ward, recovery work, slow and sometimes grim, continues at what appears to be a snail's pace. The Army Corps of Engineers continue to work on repairing the breach in the Industrial canal levee. With cranes they pile drive pilings deep into the earth to reinforce the structure.
