11th Feb, 2006. New Orleans, Louisiana. The mule, freed from its harness following a collapse walks away as Mardi Gras begins with the traditional walking parade of Krewe du Vieux. Starting in the Faubourg Marigny and winding its way through the French Quarter, thousands of people lined the streets to enjoy one of the things New Orleans does best. A great street party was had by all who attended. Satire abounded in the costumes, poking fun at government and FEMA response to Hurricane Katrina.
